Humboldt County has been declared a disaster area by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) following damage from the Early January Storm, tidal flooding, and king tides (Dec. 31, 2025 – Jan. 5, 2026). This declaration allows residents, business owners, and nonprofits to apply for low-interest disaster loans. FEMA assistance is not available for this event.
Who Can Apply
Homeowners and renters: Loans to repair or replace personal property and primary residences.
Businesses, nonprofits, agricultural cooperatives, nurseries: Loans for physical damages and economic injury (working capital).
Important Notes
Loans must be repaid; terms are based on each applicant’s financial situation.
Agricultural producers, farmers, and ranchers are not eligible, except for aquaculture enterprises.
