Hold Requests

You may place a hold request on any item in any branch of the Humboldt County Library. (This does not include reference materials, since they are for in-library use only.) You can reserve an item yourself by using the online catalog, or ask a Reference Librarian to place your hold. You will need your library card.

You may have a total of 4 hold requests at any one time.

To use the online catalog to place a hold request, first find the title you want in the catalog.  When you can see the location of the item and whether it is checked out, you can also see a "Request" button.
This is an image showing the location of the request button, which is also described below.
The Request button is at the top of the page when you are looking at a page showing just one item.  When you are looking at a whole list of items, for example all the books by a particular author, the Request button is on the right hand side of the page, so that you can select the book or other item you want.
